- Step 1: 
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the trottole pasta according to the package instructions until al dente, about 9-11 minutes. 
- Step 2: 
- While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the pesto sauce and heavy cream, stirring occasionally until the sauce is warm and slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes. 
- Step 3: 
- Drain the cooked pasta, reserving a cup of pasta water. Add the pasta to the skillet with the sauce, stirring to coat evenly. If needed, add some reserved pasta water to achieve the desired sauce consistency. 
- Step 4: 
- Season with salt to taste. Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan or fresh basil if desired.
