- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). 
- If not using premade mashed potatoes, prepare fresh by boiling peeled potatoes, then mash with butter, milk, and salt. 
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, ketchup or BBQ, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper. 
- Press meatloaf mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 baking dish. 
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly on top with a spatula. 
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes. Add optional toppings if using. 
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden. 
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
