Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Long grain white rice Rinsed if desired
  • 2 cups Chicken broth or water Warm or room temp
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Butter or oil Optional for richness

Equipment

  • 1 Crock Pot or Slow Cooker – 2-4 quart size
  • 1 Measuring cup – for liquid and rice

Method
 

  1. Spray or grease the inside of your crock pot to prevent sticking.
  2. Add uncooked rice, water or broth, salt, and butter/oil to the pot.
  3. Stir once gently to combine.
  4. Cover with the lid. Cook on LOW for 2–2.5 hours or HIGH for 1–1.5 hours.
  5. Fluff with a fork when tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Serve immediately or let cool and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For more flavor, use broth and add a bay leaf or garlic clove.
  • Do not lift the lid during cooking, this affects cook time.
  • Double the batch and freeze for later meals like fried rice or rice bowls.
